Save the planet with Hemp and Natural Fiubres
The video shows a winter harvest of hemp where a modified windrower is used. Baling is taken out using a standard Euro-bale press.
The hemp here is cultivated in a field trial for energy purposes and will be combusted in a heating plant. In Sweden hemp is normally harvested after freezing, when the water content is low (~15 %). Also, the potassium content in the material is lower, which is better for the heating plant.
The video was uploaded by Thomas Prade, PhD student at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (www.SLU.se) in Alnarp, Sweden.
Researchers involved in the project:
Johan Nilsson, Thomas Prade, Jan Erik Mattsson, Sven-Erik Svensson.
The field trials are part of a research project financed by Lunds Energi AB, Partnerskap Alnarp, Lunds Renhållningsverk and Region Skånes Miljövårdsfond.
